RIP Betty Brodie
A big crowd packed the beautiful 13th Century church of St Nicholas at Great Doddington, Northamptonshire on Wednesday 20 April to say their farewells to the late Betty Brodie, who had sadly died ten days previously. Coursing and greyhound friends – from here and from the other side of the Irish sea – mixed with farming and local friends and family at the church, where some had to stand at the back, then afterwards at the family home at Grendon. Betty was very well known in coursing circles: an elected member of the NCC since June 1998, a Waterloo Cup nominator, an Irish Cup nominator since 2007, and Secretary of the Huntingdon Coursing Club, she was a true stalwart of the coursing community. Our thoughts are with husband Jim, daughter Diana, son Robert and son-in-law Bob Burdon. An obituary detailing her life and some of her many successes on the coursing field will be published in Vol 130 of the Greyhound Stud Book (to be published summer 2011).
